Parivartan – The Change

Protecting Rivers, Empowering Youth, and Expanding Menstrual Health Awareness

Introduction

The year 2022–23 was about linking menstrual health with environmental sustainability,
expanding awareness among students, and extending outreach to rural and tribal communities. From protecting
the River Bhagirathi in Uttarakashi from menstrual waste to educating schoolchildren in Uttarakhand, Haryana,
and Madhya Pradesh, Parivartan continued its mission of health, dignity, and ecological responsibility.

Detailed Initiatives

Green Health Project – Uttarkashi

In partnership with Sirona Hygiene Foundation and the Women & Child Development Department,
Parivartan conducted workshops in multiple villages and auditoriums across Uttarkashi. The project highlighted
the dangers of non-biodegradable menstrual waste polluting the River Bhagirathi. Women, students, and local
authorities participated enthusiastically, committing to eco-friendly menstrual practices.
